PowerOn® 4

Are You Ready for Smallworld PowerOn 4?

PowerOn 4.x provides critical new functionality to fully support outage and switching operations, and includes jumpers, automated Estimated Time to
Restore, switching enhancements, and improved multi-device outage handling.

And its enhanced SWAF style user interface makes it even easier to use.

These welcome changes were driven by the strong PowerOn user community, and help operators to better manage their mission critical outage restoration.
Our PowerOn Upgrade Planning and Training Service leads your business through the process of preparing for this important upgrade. And, if you haven’t already done so, this upgrade allows you to take advantage of the additional benefits of PowerOn 3.x

The Upgrade Planning and Training Service can be run as a standalone project to help you evaluate your upgrade options and develop plans and estimates for budgeting purposes. Alternatively and more timely, the components of the Upgrade Planning and Training Service may be included as part of the early stages of a full upgrade to PowerOn 4.

The service is typically structured over a four to six week period, which can be adjusted to meet your requirements.

Smallworld PowerOn® 4 Upgrade Planning

How the Planning Service WorksWe start by installing a PowerOn 4.x evaluation system at your site and getting an initial version up and running so you can evaluate its capabilities. We can typically get a basic system working with your database very quickly, and it is our preferred approach to let you do some initial evaluation of the new functionality against your own data. We will provide background to help you better understand the changes you will need to make.

Review of current PowerOn implementation and key questionsWe will review your current software release and environment, and help you understand the key questions to be examined to determine the best upgrade path for your situation. We will jointly determine the answers to these questions over the course of the upgrade planning process.
As part of the review, we will also analyze your current implementation to ensure you’re leveraging the available features in PowerOn, and that you’re getting the most out of your technology investment.

Technical training It is critical that your internal technical staff have a good understanding of the significant changes that are introduced at PowerOn 4. Ubisense offers unparalleled experience gained working extensively with PowerOn since its inception. Our staff have worked on PowerOn development teams, project implementations and support as well as training of PowerOn customer teams.Review of PowerOn 3.x new functionality - In addition to the new functionality provided by the 4.x release, the new 3.x functions also need to be understood and evaluated as part of the upgrade plan. While the changes are significant and the upgrade path is complex, the results will be worth it in terms of faster restoration and better outage management, contributing to both increased customer satisfaction and regulator support.

Preparation and Review of project plan We will prepare a detailed project plan for the upgrade based on the data collected during our work and review with the client team to ensure full understanding.

Presentation to client managementIf required we can present the plans, including the benefits to be realized from the upgrade, and the associated costs.
