Cambridge, UK - Ubisense Group Plc ("Ubisense")(LSE:UBI), a market leader in location based smart technology, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded two contracts for real-time location projects by two of the world's largest automotive manufacturers.
The first project involves an installation of Ubisense and Atlas Copco's Tools on a large scale assembly line in Germany and represents the third major German automotive manufacturing Group that Ubisense has been contracted to supply with its location solutions.
Ubisense has also been awarded a contract with another major automaker to support the continuous improvement (or kaizen) of their manufacturing processes through the adoption of Ubisense's e-Kaizen solution at a North American plant.
Ubisense's e-Kaizen solution is used to enable the manufacturer to continuously monitor and provide visibility of workers carrying out complex assembly tasks on the assembly line. By tracking in real-time how workers interact with their torque tools on the cars at individual workstations, actual performance can be compared, model by model, to the planned activity.
Previously this comparison was only possible using video techniques but it can now be completely automated over any particular period of time, allowing data collection to be analysed over a whole range of vehicle models.
Commenting on the North American win, Richard Green, CEO of Ubisense, said: "We are delighted to have been selected to deliver tracking and visibility solutions which can be used to support continuous improvement in manufacturing as aligned with their company philosophy."
"These wins are particularly pleasing as they add two new major global automotive manufacturers to Ubisense's growing list of blue chip customers and reflect the momentum we are seeing across the RTLS business, both standalone and though our collaboration with Atlas Copco."
