Compact Tag

The Compact Tag is a small rugged device that, when attached to assets and vehicles, allows them to be dynamically located to a precision of 15cm in 3D. It is specifically designed for use in harsh industrial environments and includes several advanced features: an LED for easy identification, a motion detector to instantly activate a stationary tag and a push button to trigger events.

The Compact Tag incorporates a variety of mounting options to aid easy attachment to any object or surface. Uniquely the integrity of the Ubisense UWB signal is not affected by the material properties of the items the tags are attached to including attachment to metal objects or liquid containers.



Features
Dual-Radio Architecture
Ubisense tags employ a unique dual-radio architecture. Tags transmit ultra-wideband (UWB) radio pulses which are used to determine precise location and a conventional bi-directional 2.4GHz radio which is used as a control and telemetry channel.


Two-way Communication
The two-way communication function allows the Ubisense system to:
dynamically manage the tags; vary update rates; send self-identification commands to illuminate the LED; report battery status information and button press actions.
  
Flexible Update Rates
The Ubisense software platform allows the tag update rate to be dynamically and automatically varied depending on tag activity: if the tag is moving quickly the update rate can be increased and decreased as the tag slows down. This facilitates optimal tracking and power management.

When not moving, tags sleep to conserve battery power. A motion detector built into the tag ensures it transmits as soon as it is moved.

Smart Button
The Compact Tag is available with a button that is programmable to provide context-sensitive input to interactive applications. For example, a door can be programmed to lock or unlock; a camera can be programmed to zoom in and out.

Rugged and Adaptable
The compact tag is designed to be rugged for use in harsh industrial environments. It is mechanically robust, dust and water resistant.

Long Battery Life
With typical usage, a compact tag is designed to last for over 5 years without needing a new battery. Automated status reports and alerts make ongoing maintenance easy and batteries can be simply replaced when required.
