Series 7000 Sensor
The Series 7000 sensor is a precision measuring
instrument, containing an arrayof antennas and ultra-wideband (UWB)
radio receivers. The sensors calculate the location of the tags based
on reception of the detected UWB signals transmitted from the Ubisense
tags.
Each sensor independently determines both the
azimuth and elevation Angle of Arrival (AOA) of the UWB signal,
providing a bearing to each tag. The Time Difference of Arrival
(TDOA) information is determined between pairs of sensors connected
with a timing cable.
This unique combination of AOA and TDOA measurement techniques
delivers a flexible, powerful and robust location system, enabling
both an accurate location to be determined from a single sensor
and a precise 3D location to be determined when only two sensors
receive the signal. This reduces the infrastructure requirements
for an installation, minimizing cost, whilst dramatically improving
the reliability and robustness of the system.
Wired or Wireless
Sensors work in standard wired and wireless environments, using networking
infrastructures, such as 802.11 access points, Ethernet switches and
CAT5
structured network cabling for communication between sensors and servers.
Two Way Communication
Ubisense 7000 series sensors support two-way communication with any Ubisense
tags. This allows the Ubisense system to dynamically manage the tags,
including varying the tag update rate in real-time for optimal tracking and power
management. As well as dynamic management, the two-way link is also
used for control and telemetry information.
Ease of Maintenance
Sensors are administered remotely using standard Ethernet protocols
for their
communication and configuration. Firmware is downloaded into the sensors
over the network allowing them to be easily upgraded and new features
to be
uploaded.
