How it works
A network of Ubisense Sensors is installed and connected into a building's existing network. The sensors use UWB (ultra-wideband) radio technology to detect and react to the precise location of Ubisense Tags.
The sensors send the tag location information to the Ubisense software platform, which creates a detailed, real-time view of the environment. This model can be used by an unlimited number of simultaneous programs that are able to respond immediately to changes in the space that is created.
Ubisense can be integrated into other corporate systems such as communications or scheduling systems to create a real-time operating system for location and context aware computing.

Precision
Ubisense can sense where people and things are as accurately as people can, so that Ubisense applications appear to perceive exactly the same world that people do.
Ubisense can deliver up to 6 inch / 15cm 3D accuracy even within a complex indoor environment. This allows location aware applications to tell exactly which room you are in, which computer you are seated at, which phone is closest to you, even which devices you are holding so they can respond in exactly the right way to changes in the environment.
Real-time response
The Ubisense Platform responds instantly to changes in the environment, so that applications can respond to events at the moment that they occur.
Ubisense can track each tag several times a second. The system also dynamically manages the update rates of individual tags so that fast-moving tags will be located more frequently than stationary or slow moving ones, simultaneously increasing system performance and battery lifetime.
The Ubisense Platform also monitors real-time spatial interactions involving people and objects. For analysis, Ubisense provides historic reporting and playback of a user defined time period.
Scalability
Ubisense uses a cellular sensor and processing architecture to achieve exceptional scalability using low-cost off-the-shelf servers and Ethernet networks.
Ubisense can scale from a single room monitoring one person to very large complex sites. Our systems are designed to scale to sites of 1,000,000 ft² / 100,000m² upwards and to track tens of thousands of Ubisense Tags in real time. Ubisense installations are easily expandable, allowing you to start by monitoring key areas of a building and incrementally add areas to the system over time building up to the complete site.
